The Susan Freeman Transplant Fund
Susan is not just an acquaintance of mine, she is one of my dearest friends. I've known Susan since I was in 2nd grade. She is the big sister of my very best friend, Connie, and has always treated me like a sister too. When I was a teenager and a neighborhood bully was threatening to "kick my butt" --to put it nicely -- Susan came to my rescue. I'll never forget it. The bully and her entourage of bully buddies had Connie and me trapped inside another friend, Susie's, house. Susan came screeching into the driveway in her little Volkswagen Beetle, jumped out of the car (pregnant as all get-out) with balled fists and a ready-to-kill look about her and single-handedly chased those bullies away!
Now I feel like I can return a little of the favor by spreading the word...
Susan needs a lung transplant. To get the transplant and the enormously expensive medications and care that will follow the surgery, she needs money - and plenty of it! She has a fund that we can contribute to but we need to act fast! Any monies collected (up to $10,000) for her through this fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar by an organization called "Access to Care" -- a part of The Georgia Transplant Foundation. The catch is that this offer expires on April 27, 2008. That's why we need to hurry.
A donation to Susan's fund would be wonderful. There is also another way you can help. If you have a website (personal or business) you could link Susan's donation page to it. If you work for a company that has a website, you may be able to get them to link to her page as well. If you are a member of a club that donates monies to help others, please bring her case up. Any newsletter or publication you may be involved with (online or printed) could carry her story (and the link to her donation page).
I have constructed a couple of web pages for Susan and given her donation page a home. Please contact me if you need link information or any other information about the website for Susan. Call me at (404) 375-9600 or email me.
